The Bullets Aimed at Trump Shattered My American Dream

When I learned from the news that former President Donald Trump was shot in an assassination attempt at an election rally in Pennsylvania, I was deeply shocked. This was an unforgivable major security failure. Fortunately, Trump did not appear to be seriously injured. Surrounded by a group of bodyguards, he continued to interact with his supporters, lifting his fist in the air and mouthing the word “fight” three times. Under the Stars and Stripes, Trump displayed his unwavering resilience and determination.
I don't particularly like Trump because he comes across more as a businessman than a statesman. However, I do respect his candidness and honesty. Trump is known for his outspoken remarks on issues such as immigration, refugees, race relations, LGBT rights, and Asian affairs, which often offend many people. Looking back at American history, Trump is one of the three presidents since 1945 who did not initiate a war during his term. In contrast to Biden, who has been criticized for military interventions under the guise of humanitarian aid benefiting arms dealers, Trump publicly stated his intent to swiftly resolve conflicts like the Russia-Ukraine war and the Israel-Palestine conflict upon taking office. Therefore, the military-industrial complex has long regarded him as a thorn in its side. By the way, Obama received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009, yet he participated in multiple wars during his tenure, including the war in Afghanistan, the war in Iraq, military intervention in Libya, and airstrikes in the Syrian Civil War. Trump, on the other hand, did not receive the Nobel Peace Prize. How ironic.
So the point is, why was Trump targeted? Who stands to gain the most from Trump's assassination? There's no doubt in my mind that an old and frail Biden would be the biggest beneficiary. Any discerning person can see that Biden has significant issues, both in terms of his physical condition and his mental state. Nevertheless, the elderly Biden serves as the ideal puppet candidate — easily controlled and aligned with the interests of the consortium backing the presidency. In contrast, Trump is not a "compliant" president. He's too much of a maverick and difficult to influence. As Biden's presidential prospects decline, anxiety grows within the consortium supporting him. After the Biden team's failed attempts to frame Trump and imprison him, the decision to assassinate the presidential candidate seems plausible.
I do not agree with the online speculation that Trump staged the incident himself. Trump already had a clear advantage over Biden in the election, so there was no need for him to risk his life. After watching the live video several times, it's almost certain that Trump was just lucky — he happened to tilt his head at the right moment, which saved his life.
Regardless of the true culprit or their motives, this assassination attempt has left American freedom and democracy as shaky as the flag behind Trump. As a Chinese American, I've witnessed the deep political divisions in the United States, with both parties resorting to a fight to the death for their own interests. Learning about the introduction of the revised Statistical Policy Directive No. 15 has shattered my belief in the American Dream—a beautiful bubble blown by politicians, easily burst. While the bullets aimed at Trump didn't take his life, they brutally shattered every illusion. The possibility of another assassination attempt, like the one at the presidential candidate's rally, fills me with fear. I hope for Trump's swift recovery and continued resilience in his fight.
