Rita Waeni: 2 Nigerians Arrested in Kenya over Murder of University Student

Kenya - Detectives probing the murder of Rita Waeni, a student of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) have recovered critical items from the house of Nigerian suspects who have been arrested in connection with the brutal murder.
What was used to kill Rita Waeni?
Among the items were a hatchet, butcher knife, six mobile phones, and three laptop computers.
William Ovie Opia and JohnBull Asibor, discovered to be in the country unlawfully, were also found in possession of various SIM cards from Safaricom, Airtel, and Telkom, along with a Kenyan identity card registered under the name Omar Mwamkwaju Juma.

According to Citizen Digital, Opia's passport had expired, while his accomplice informed investigators that he had lost his passport in the preceding year, 2023.
As the probe continues, both suspects will be held in police custody for eight days to allow for the completion of the investigation.
They were apprehended in a rented residence in Ndenderu, Kiambu county, following allegations of their involvement in the killing of Waeni in a Roysambu Airbnb along Thika Road.
Rita Waeni's head recovered
On Sunday, January 21, the police recovered a human head suspected to be that of Waeni in a dam in Kiambaa, Kiambu County.
They also got some property of the deceased at the same scene, which they picked up as they proceeded to find the key suspect, who has been on the run.
Lady stabs married boyfriend to death
In other news, a woman, whose identity remains undisclosed, allegedly fatally stabbed her boyfriend, known as Tony, during a dispute that unfolded between them on Friday, December 22.
The incident occurred in an estate along the NTA/Apara link road in Port Harcourt, Rivers state.
Tony and the suspect reportedly engaged in an argument on the specified date, leading to him assaulting her.
