Elon Musk has amassed more wealth than the whole gross domestic product (GDP) of his birth nation, South Africa. According to World Bank figures, the third-world country earned $301.9 billion last year while Musk's net worth has risen to $335 billion.

Investor and business giant Warren Buffett lacks Musk's financial clout, with Tesla's CEO being the first person to gain a $300 billion net worth, making him three times richer than the well-known philanthropist.

The recent surge in the net worth of Musk was prompted by an 8.5% increase in Tesla’s shares. It was reported that his net worth rose by a significant $165 billion in 2021.

Following reports by The South African, Pretoria’s own is estimated to be worth roughly $100 billion more than Amazon Founder Jeff Bezos. It is also estimated that Musk is 29 times richer than Johann Rupert, South Africa’s richest citizen.

Meanwhile, Musk had reclaimed the top position on the world wealth ranking.

The Tesla and Space X founder had a fortune of $200.4 billion (N82,468,608,000,000) at the time this report was written.

With the new position, Jeff Bezos lost the spot with a fortune of $193.1 billion (N79,464,512,000,000). Others below him were Bernad Arnault, Bill Gates, and Mark Zuckerberg.

It should be noted that Elon’s wealth was around $74 billion (N30,452,480,000,000) earlier in the year. He has now become the third person to surpass the $200 billion (N82,304,000,000,000) wealth milestone.

In January, he was in the number spot of richest person before Jeff Bezos dethroned him a month after.
