Nigeria's President Buhari has explained why he appointed Major-General Farouk Yahaya as COAS. The president expressed his confidence in the military commander.

President Muhammadu Buhari said he has ordered the Nigerian armed forces to be ruthless with bandits and terrorists in the northeast region of the country.

Another camp of the Eastern Security Network (ESN) linked to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have been destroyed after an invasion by Nigerian troops.

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Maj. Gen. Farouk Yahaya and CDS, Gen. Lucky Irabor are expected to meet major generals, superior officers marked for retirement.

The Minister of Defence, Major General Bashir Magashi (rtd), has informed Nigerians that there would be a lot of changes in the security operations very soon.

The well-armed security operatives were said to have surrounded the IPOB lawyer's country home in Anambra, shooting sporadically and scaring people around.

The Nigerian Army has blamed the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Eastern Security Network (ESN) for the April 5 attack on the Imo state police command.

The administration led by President Muhammadu Buhari has bought 26 new aircrafts towards combating terrorism, and other threats since it took over in 2015.
