The federal government, through the ministry of education, has said that it is working on mechanisms to rescue abducted students and teachers in Kebbi state.

As reported by the Nigerian Union of Teachers in Kebbi, the government has shut down about seven schools said to be vulnerable to attacks by armed bandits.

Governor Bagudu said that if hundreds of thousands of people can be mobilised during campaigns, adding that same should be done now to join the search party.

In a recent raid carried out by Nigerian Army troops of Operation Hadarin Daji, some students of Federal Government College Birnin Yawuri, Kebbi were rescued.

One of the students abducted from the Federal Government College, Birnin Yauri, Kebbi state, has died in an exchange of gunfire between soldiers and bandits.

Scores of armed bandits were killed on Thursday while others injured after troops with support of vigilantes raided their base between Niger and Kebbi states

The gunmen who struck at Federal Government College, Birnin Yauri in Kebbi State, on Thursday, June 17, conveyed their victims in a bus belonging to a parent.
