Benue state governor, Samuel Ortom at the banquet hall of the Government House in Makurdi of the state on Monday, July 16, in a dramatic twist announced that he is no longer with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Benue state governor, Samuel Ortom, said on Tuesday, July 10 that he is still a member of the All Progressive Congress (APC). Ortom refuted media reports that he planned to defect to People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state has lamented that all his appointees have abandoned him. Ortom stated this on Monday, June 25, at the inauguration of governing board members and two governing councils at the government house.

The Benue state governor has directed all security agencies in the state mobilise its personnel to areas affected by the recent conflict. The governor said such move will curtail activities of hoodlums in the affected areas.

It was gathered that a few weeks ago, suspected armed herdsmen had invaded Mbalon community and attacked St. Ignatius Catholic Church at Ayar Mbalom in Gwer East local government area of the state, killed two priests - Rev Fathers

The governor of Benue, Samuel Ortom, has announced May 22, as work-free day to honour two priests of the Roman Catholic Church, who were killed recently in the state in an attack reportedly carried out by alleged herdsmen.

Benue state governor, Samuel Ortom, has once again reiterated his accusation that the leadership of the herdsmen group, Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, are responsible for the incessant killings of farmers and villagers in state.

The governor of Benue state, Samuel Ortom has revealed that 18 local government area in the state are under attack by suspected herdsmen. Ortom said only three out of the 23 local government areas in Benue are free from attacks.
