Biography

Fathia Balogun was born into a polygamous family of nine children. She attended Maryland Primary School and Maryland Comprehensive Secondary School in Lagos state. After obtaining her West African School Certificate, Fathia enrolled at Kwara State Polytechnic for a diploma certificate.

Career

Fathia Balogun began her career in the Nigerian film industry in the 1990s and is known for starring in big films such as Farayola (2009), Basira Badia (2016), and My Woman (2018). She has acted in, produced, and directed several Nigerian films. In 2008, she won the Africa Movie Academy Award for Most Outstanding Actress Indigenous and her movie, “Iranse Aje”, won the Best Indigenous Film of the Year. In 2014, she won the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress of the Year along with Odunlade Adekola, who emerged as Best Actor of the Year. She also won the Best Local Language Yoruba award for her work in the film “Iya Alalake” at the 2015 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards.

Family

Fathia Balogun was previously married to Saheed Balogun, a veteran Nigerian actor. They have two children together, Khalid and Aliyah Balogun. Fathia also has another son from an earlier relationship.
