Senator Dino Melaye’s reported kidnap may have been a hoax as according to Sara Reporters, the Kogi lawmaker told his relatives and some senators that he merely walked into the bush to avoid appearing before a court in Kogi.

Senator Dino Melaye has presented a picture of a hand written statement his brother allegedly submitted to the police to inform the police of the senator's alleged abduction which happened on Thursday, July 27.

Senator Dino Melaye has been reportedly released after it was alleged that he abducted by unkwonn gunmen. It was alleged that the Kogi senator was kidnapped on Thursday, July 26 on his way to Kogi state for his court case.

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) police command has claimed that it was not aware of the abduction of Senator Dino Melaye. Dino Melaye, the senator representing Kogi West at that National Assembly was was reportedly kidnapped.

Senator Dino Melaye was reportedly attacked by armed men at the Gwagwalada area of Abuja, as he made his way to Lokoja, the Kogi state capital, on Wednesday morning, July 26. Melaye recently defected to the PDP.

Sen. Dino Melaye was on Wednesday arraigned in an FCT High Court, Apo, on a six-count charge, bordering on attempted suicide, attempt to escape from custody and damage of police property. Melaye who represents Kogi West district.

Speaking on his new life the Senator said: "My family is great, my family is wonderful. I love my kids to the moon. My kids are my friends. I have a wonderful family, a God-fearing family. And again, I’m successfully single."

Senator Dino Melaye, representing Kogi west senatorial district, in a video released via his Twitter page on Friday, July 6, announced and celebrated his imminent return to the main opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party.

Senator Dino Melaye says if President Muhammadu Buhari was displeased with the 2018 budget, he should have returned it to the National Assembly. He made the comment in response to allegations of budget padding by NASS.
