The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has said the outgoing governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose, will face criminal trial at the Federal High Court in Ado Ekiti at the expiration of his tenure.

Governor Ayodele Fayose has finally reacted to the outcome of the Ekiti gubernatorial election describing it as rigged and blaming President Muhammadu Buhari. Kayode Fayemi of the APC won the election ahead of the PDP candidate.

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state has said that he will not abscond from Nigeria when his immunity from criminal prosecution elapses in October 2018. The governor’s spokesperson said he (Fayose) is not afraid of the EFCC.

The governor-elect for Ekiti state, Kayode Fayemi, has promised to clear the backlog of salaries owed state workers by the present governor, Ayodele Fayose. He said the workers' salaries would be paid within six months.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Sunday, July 15, after the election announced that it is set to arrest Governor Ayo Fayose over the Integrated Poultry Project/Biological Concepts Limited N1.3bn fraud case.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has mocked Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state and promises to come after him after his preferred candidate, Prof. Kolapo Olusola lost to Kayode Fayemi at the Saturday elections.

Ahead of the July 14 governorship election in Ekiti state, civil servants started receiving cash deposit alerts, N3,000 as stipend from the Ekiti state government on Friday, July 13. A Twitter user revealed the information.

Bus drivers in Ekiti were reportedly responsible for the violence that erupted in the state Government House which they blamed on Governor Ayodele Fayose’s refusal to pay them the N10,000 he promised to disrupt APC campaign.

He said the appointment of the acting director general of Ekiti Broadcasting Service, Lere Olayinka, as the Spokesperson of Kolapo Olusola Campaign Organisation (KOCO), was not in conformity with the ethics of broadcasting.
