Aliko Dangote, the Chairman of the Dangote Group, has said that the Group is discontinuing its plans to invest in Nigeria's steel industry to avoid the monopoly tag.

In recent times, Dangote Refinery management has stated their discontent with what they believe to be an endeavor on the part of IOCs to cause harm to the refinery.

On Saturday, July 20, Speaker Tajudeen Abbas led the House of Representatives leadership on a visit to the $20 billion Dangote Petroleum refinery in Lagos state.

The Dangote management has denied the reports that its refinery produces inferior petroleum products, saying that its products are 80% better than imported ones.

FG has declared that it will continue importing refined petroleum products into the nation in addition to the goods produced by the Dangote Petroleum Refinery.

Dangote Refinery management has accused international oil companies of selling crude oil to refineries operating in Nigeria higher than the official rate.

Oil marketers have said that they did not reach any pricing agreements with the Dangote Refinery but said that they were ready to lift products from the plant.

NUPRC said that a rule of engagement was necessary to make sure that domestic refineries are not hampered by the price strategy employed by oil producers.

The Port Harcourt Refining Company is almost ready to join Dangote Refinery in beginning the production of petroleum products, including diesel for Nigerians to buy.
