US Open: Tennis Fan Becomes Instant Meme After Woman Snubs His Drink Offer

  • A tennis fan at the US Open has elicited reactions online after a video of him offering someone a drink went viral
  • The fan was in attendance at Frances Tiafoe's game against Aleksandar Kovacevic at the Billie Jean King Centre
  • It is not known if he knew the woman beforehand, even as social media users continue to sympathise with him

A tennis fan at the ongoing US Open has gone viral after a woman appeared to brutally snub his drink offer on August 26.

Now, I don't know about you, but it goes without saying that this talking to a woman game needs two to tango - and you really can't blame a guy for trying.

Something must kill a man.

Man becomes meme at US Open

We do not have the full context, but the video posted by the US Open's X admin—who, by the way, deserves a raise — gives us a lot to go on.

Drama as Portable allegedly slaps Pastor preaching around his bar: "He needs to be taught a lesson"

The fan made his way back to a seat we can only assume was his—two drinks in hand. He smiled at a lady on his left and appeared to offer her a drink.

But rather hilariously or painfully - depending on how you choose to see it - another man in the back row handed the lady a drink, leaving our guy dazed. Quite literally.

The six-second clip ends with the fan confused at what just happened. We cannot confirm if he knew the lady beforehand or if he was just trying out his luck because, as we said - something must kill a man.

And if it was the former, it's even worse, no? All this while, there was a second lady on his right appearing to say, 'You should have given me the drink instead.'

Reactions to the fan getting snubbed

His pain was felt by fellow men who know too well the pain of getting snubbed.

@ChrisBozozwski said,

"See you at the gym, brother.."

@Bairdric said,

"If you look closely, you can actually pinpoint the exact moment his heart breaks in two.”

While @Luca said:

"Bro is gonna begin his journey of self-discovery and personal growth after this one"

Our poor guy didn't bank on being a meme for offering a drink to someone else. He probably just wanted to sit, enjoy his tennis game, drop a couple of cheesy lines, hand her a drink and hope that does the trick.

Life, my guy.

Tiafoe beats Kovacevic

We can't tell if he concentrated on the game thereafter, but American Frances Tiafoe beat compatriot Aleksandar Kovacevic in sets of 6-4, 6-3, 4-6, and 7-5 at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
