Stephen Keshi Warns Super Eagles Against Being Selfish

The Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi urges his players to focus on team success first and not only on personal achievements.

The Big Boss made a remark ahead of the final group game to be played today against Argentina in Porto Alegro, Vanguard reports.

After the victory over Bosnia-Herzegovina Nigeria's chances to qualify substantially increased, unless Keshi's men lose and Iran beats Bosnia-Herzegovina with a wide margin.

As the coach, who led the country team to the win at 2013 AFCON, does not want it to happen, he instructed the footballers to play one for another.

In the previous match before Emmanuel Emenike’s pass, that resulted in a brilliant goal by Osaze Odemwingie, Emenike had done everything to score, even when another player was better placed than him. The same was with Ogenyi Onaze a couple of times.

Commenting on the tactics for the today's game, Keshi insisted:

"We have worked on that and I have told them not to be selfish. Sometimes players show excessive hunger in the field. It is good but team victory is absolutely important."

He had already mentioned it in a previous briefing in Brazil laying an emphasis on the team work and team tactics in the match against world class Argentina, and Barcelona FC star Lionel Messi in particular.
