David Mark Heads Big Official Delegation To FIFA World Cup In Brazil

The Super Eagles would receive support and encouragement at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil from a representative Federal Government’s delegation, headed by the Senate President David Mark.

According to the statement by Mark’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr Paul Mumeh, issued in Abuja on June 10, 2014, Tuesday, the Senate President has received a mandate from President Goodluck Jonathan to lead the official delegation to the Mundial.

David Mark would deliver the Presidential goodwill message to the players and officials. Other aspects of stay in Brazil include inspiring talks with the Super Eagles ahead of their opening match against Iran, on June 16, 2014, Monday. 

The delegation plans to attend the opening ceremony at Corinthians Arena, São Paulo, on June 12, 2014.

The list of the delegation is given below:

1. Governor Liyel Imoke (Cross River);

2. Governor Shehu Shema (Katsina);

3. Senator Bala Mohammed – FCT Minister;

4. Senator Adamu Gumba – the Chairman, Senate Committee on Sports;

5. Geofrey Gaiya – the Chairman, House of Reps Committee on Sports;

6. Edem Duke – the Minister of Tourism, Culture and National Orientation;

7. Boni Haruna – the Minister of Youth Development;

8. Tamuno Danagogo – Sports Minister;

9. Professor Viola Onwuliri – Minister of State Foreign Affairs;

10. Kola Sodipo – Commissioner of Police.

The NFF president Aminu Maigari is already in Sao Paolo.

It would be added that the Super Eagles are expected to land in Brazil on June 10, 2014, after a series of friendly, warm-up matches.
