Why Rashford was sent home

The report indicates that the England international was checked by the team doctor and adjudged to be of high fever. He was, therefore, sent back home to recover.

Marcus Rashford admits he could leave Manchester United

On Tuesday, the 27-year-old visited his former primary school, where he met with journalist Henry Winter.

It is here where he admitted that he was considering 'new challenges' by leaving Manchester United.

"For me, personally, I think I'm ready for a new challenge and the next steps. When I leave, it's going to be 'no hard feelings'. If I know that a situation is already bad, I'm not going to make it worse."

It is unknown whether he would be fit to face Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup on Thursday.
