Refereeing body PGMOL, FA, and UEFA are investigating David Coote, who could be sacked or face severe punishment, per Sky Sports.

What do Premier League referees earn?

Coote is one of the most experienced and senior referees in the Premier League. He has officiated games in the league since 2018.

According to The Mirror, referees earn between £73,191 (Ksh12 million) and £147,258 (Ksh24 million) per year

They also receive £1,116 per game, or £837 if they are on video assistant referee (VAR) duty.

Moreover, referees are entitled to bonuses based on the quality of their officiating. For example, a referee would get a bonus if they got more calls correct.

Coote reportedly earns £100,000 (Ksh16.3 million) per year, and retired referee Mike Dean reportedly also earned around £100,000 per year.

Coote could receive a lengthy suspension or even be sacked as an official.
