Speaking ahead of the ceremony, Gabriel said his countryman Vinicius Jr, who represents Real Madrid, is the best player in the world and deserves the 2024 Ballon d'Or award.

The Real Madrid superstar has had a phenomenal year, especially for his club. He won the league and the Champions League double.
In the 2023/24 season at Real Madrid, he registered 24 goals and 11 assists in 39 matches, per Transfermarkt. He ended the season with La Liga and Champions League medals.
His form for Brazil has been poor. He has scored just twice for his country in 2024.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Barcelona and Arsenal legend Thierry Henry named his pick for the 2024 Ballon d'Or award.
The World Cup winner named Manchester City midfielder Rodri as his pick for the 2024 Ballon d’Or.
Despite currently being sidelined with an injury, Henry believes Rodri is a deserving winner, particularly after leading Spain to victory at Euro 2024.
