Manchester United made some blockbuster signings in the summer after a difficult 2023/24 season.
Joshua Zirkzee, Matthijs De Ligt, and Leny Yoro are some of the big names the Red Devils signed in the summer.
Former Man United star Paul Parker has called out Zirkzee, saying he is "one-paced" and will be benched once Rasmus Hojlung returns from injury.
The Dutch striker arrived from Bologna to compete for the striker position with the Denmark striker, who had a decent first season.
With a busy season ahead, Man United will need Zirkzee and Hojlund firing.
Parker calls out Zrikzee
Parker feels Zirkzee cannot start ahead of Hojlund, highlighting some of the flaws he believes the player has.
"I can’t see how Zirkzee plays and I don’t know his best position, Parker said via Football365. “Can he win the ball back? I look at him and when he starts games, his socks are around his ankles and he looks like he’s ran a half marathon before he’s even started a game.
"I’m not sure how fit he is. There’s no great burst in his runs or a change of pace. He’s very one paced. I just don’t know. Capello said the pace of the game in England has caught Zirkzee off guard.”
The 23-year-old has scored once in five matches this season. Last season at Bologna, he registered 12 goals and seven assists in 37 matches, per Transfermarkt.
Zirkzee scores match winner for Man United
In another report, Legit.ng earlier reported that Joshua Zirkzee fired Man United to their first win of the 2024/25 season.
The hitman got off the mark with a scrappy finish and salvaged a largely uninspiring Premier League opener from Erik ten Hag's side.
