- The Dutchman, alongside some of his colleagues across the English top flight, are facing the sack this season
The Premier League is three games in, and some managers have started fighting for their jobs.
Manchester United, Everton, and Southampton are some of the teams that have made poor starts to the 2024/25 Premier League season.
Six teams are winless in the first three matches, with Everton and Southampton losing all their games.
Every season, teams in the English top flight compete for titles, others will be looking for European spots, and many will aim to avoid relegation.
However, many teams don't meet the expectations of the fans and the owners. Coaches will be the first casualties if teams underperform.
This season, there are some coaches who are already under pressure. Here are the top 5.
Which Premier League coach will be sacked first?
Erik ten Hag
The Manchester United manager already survived the sack last season after a dreadful Premier League campaign. The FA Cup win bought him some time, but he has overseen another poor start to the season, putting his position at risk. They beat Fulham, lost to Brighton, and then suffered a humiliating defeat to Liverpool at Old Trafford, and reports indicate that he has a few games to save his job.
Sean Dyche
Sean Dyche's Everton are undergoing a financial crisis. They managed to avoid relegation in the last few seasons, even after a points deduction. Dyche's side have made a poor start this season, losing all their league games and conceding 10 goals in the process. In their last game before the international break, they blew away a 2-0 lead and lost 3-2 to Bournemouth. They face Aston Villa this weekend, which is not an ideal game when trying to get the first points of the season.
Enzo Maresca
Chelsea appeared to have settled on Mauricio Pochettino last season after years of turmoil in the hot seat. Maresca avoided an embarrassing defeat against Manchester City and hammered Wolves 6-2. However, a 1-1 draw at home to Crystal Palace is a result the owners might not tolerate, considering they've spent so much.
Russell Martin
Martin's Southampton have also lost three matches. Last season in the Championship, Martin entertained fans with his Pep Guardiola-inspired style, but that transition hasn't worked so far. Martin will need to adapt to the Premier League or risk going back down, like Vincent Kompany's Burnley, who played attractive football but found little success in the top flight.
Steve Cooper
Cooper was fired by Nottingham Forest last season but landed the Leicester City job after Enzo Maresca joined Chelsea. Cooper's Leicester City have suffered two losses, one to Fulham and the other to Fulham. They face Crystal Palace and Everton in their next two games, and things could change quickly for Cooper if his team doesn't get positive results.
Man United advised to fire Erik ten Hag
Legit.ng earlier reported that Man United legend Dwight Yorke asked Man United to get rid of Erik ten Hag and hire Zinedine Zidane.
The legendary striker feels Zidane's pedigree will attract some top players around the world. The former Ajax coach is in his third season and has won two trophies.
