Brazil are rarely considered a top footballing nation these days because of their performances in the last few years.

Their coach, Dorival Junior, has boldly predicted that Brazil will reach the 2026 World Cup final, which will be hosted in North America.

Their World Cup qualifying campaign hasn't started well. They sit fourth in the CONMEBOL standings after winning three of their seven qualifiers.

Dorival backs Brazil for World Cup final

Brazil last reached a World Cup final in 2002, where they won, but they have struggled to compete with their European counterparts.

The South American giants have never missed a World Cup tournament since its inception in 1930, and failure to qualify will be viewed as a disaster.

Since lifting the trophy in 2002, Brazil have reached the World Cup semi-final once, in 2014, when they were thrashed 7-1 by eventual champions Germany.

Dorival Junior is confident they will make the final in the 2026 edition in North America.
