Premier League Legend Predicts Sacking of Man United Boss Erik ten Hag

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is under-fire following an embarrassing defeat to Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday.

His team has now suffered two defeats in the Premier League season, just three games in.

Premier League all-time top scorer Alan Shearer believes the Dutchman has a few games to save his job.

The former Ajax boss was lucky to remain in his job this season following a dreadful league campaign where Man United finished eighth, their worst finish in the Premier League era.

He was handed a new deal until 2026, but if things don't improve, he will likely not see 2025 in the dugout. Some have called for him to be fired and replaced with a manager with pedigree.

When will Erik ten Hag be fired?

Shearer believes the next two matches will be vital for Erik ten Hag.

“United’s results will have to improve massively for Ten Hag to still be at the club at Christmas," he said via Football365. “A lot will depend on their next two results. After the defeat to Brighton and the manner of defeat to Liverpool, if the team doesn’t see a massive improvement in the next game or two then it will be really, really difficult for him because the noise will only get louder.”

The Red Devils face Southampton and Crystal Palace in their next league matches. Although they look winnable on paper, Erik ten Hag's team has struggled to beat bottom-half teams in recent times.

Crystal Palace hammered them 4-0 last season, and if they play like they did against Liverpool, another heavy defeat is on the cards.

Ronaldo takes swipe at Erik ten Hag

Legit.ng earlier reported that Al-Nassr and Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo taking a swipe at Erik ten Hag.

The veteran said he'll always be a starter and will always respect coaches who decide to bench him, adding that some treated him badly.
