Manchester United's board has decided to throw its weight behind embattled manager Erik ten Hag amid a poor start to the new season.
The Red Devils have only collected three points from a possible nine in their first three games, putting ten Hag under immediate scrutiny.
The Dutch manager is already walking a tightrope after saving his job by winning the FA Cup last season. It was widely believed that the new controlling owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, would crack the whip but elected to allow the former Ajax manager to carry on. He was, in fact, granted a one-year contract extension, as captured on the club's website.
However, after the damaging 3-0 loss to Liverpool over the weekend, questions have started to rise again on whether ten Hag is the right manager for the INEOS project.

Will Manchester United sack ten Hag?
But as it stands, the 54-year-old has received backing from two senior members of the newly-reconstituted board. Club's executive Omar Berrada and sporting director Dan Ashworth maintain that ten Hag will be given time to turn things around.
"Do we still believe in Erik? Absolutely. We think Erik is the right coach for us, and we’re fully backing him," said Berrada, as quoted by the Guardian.
"I’m very optimistic about what we have in front of us. We’re starting to put the right pieces in place, and I’m absolutely convinced we’re going to be successful."
He declined to give a specific timeframe for when ten Hag had to start producing consistent results. Ratcliffe, who was present at Old Trafford for the Liverpool game, looked frustrated as Arne Slot's men put three past them.
Ten Hag defiant despite Liverpool loss
Speaking after the game, ten Hag insisted that Manchester United were not that bad in the game.
As Legit.ng reported, the manager referenced past seasons, admitting that his side did not concede 'many goals' despite the 3-0 defeat.
Ten Hag reiterated there were some positives from the game but chose to congratulate Liverpool for the win.
