There is no denying that the Portuguese icon has built his name over the years as one of the best in the game and a dead-ball specialist.

However, he has struggled in recent years to make his free-kick attempts count. His struggles became apparent during last month's Euro championships when he took most of Portugal's free-kicks without success.

He resumed club duty after taking a break following the quarter-final heartbreak to France via a penalty shootout. The former Real Madrid striker played his first competitive game of the new season when he featured in Al-Nassr's 2-0 win over Al Tawooun in the Suadi Super Cup semi-finals.

Despite getting on the scoresheet and becoming the first man to score in 23 successive seasons, Ronaldo's poor effort became fodder for a public debate after fans spotted what he said.

What Ronaldo said to himself before taking the free-kick

Before the five-time Ballon d'Or winner took a free kick, he was spotted murmuring 'eu sou u melhor,' which is Portuguese for 'I am the best.' He then blazed his free-kick over the bar, which elicited sharp reactions online.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Cristiano Ronaldo has officially resumed training with Al-Nassr after a lengthy break following his participation in the 2024 UEFA European Championship.

The veteran forward, embarking on his 23rd professional season, experienced a challenging summer with Portugal during the Euros.

Announcing his return on social media, Ronaldo shared a series of images with the caption, "Back where I belong!"
