With Yoro injured, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka is close to sealing a move to West Ham. The 20-time Premier League champions are also close to signing De Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui as replacements, per The Guardian.

A big season awaits the club after a dismal league campaign, which was covered up by the FA Cup win over Manchester City.

They will kick off their Premier League campaign against Fulham on Friday, August 16 at Old Trafford.

Paul Scholes problem with Matthijs De Ligt

Speaking in The Overlap episode, the legendary midfielder raised a few concerns about the Dutch defender.

"Manchester United are talking about bringing players in who can’t get in their team," Scholes said on The Overlap via Sportbible. "From Bayern Munich, he has not played for them. That has to be a big concern for me, especially when Eric Dier is playing in front of him."

The two-time Champions League winner had some harsh words about the 24-year-old.

"Juventus got rid of him, he wasn’t good enough for Juventus. He’s obviously not been good enough at Bayern Munich, so he’s coming to us as like a second-rate defender now," he said.

De Ligt has spent two seasons at Bayern Munich since signing from Juventus, playing 73 games, per Sky Sports.

Man United suffer double injury scare

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Manchester United face a double injury setback as the new Premier League season approaches, following injuries to Rasmus Hojlund and Leny Yoro in their pre-season match against Arsenal.

Despite Arsenal's 2-1 victory, thanks to goals from Gabriel and Gabriel Martinelli Manchester United edged the Gunners in a shootout drill, which delighted the American fans.
