Kurt Okraku Retains Seat as Ghana Football Association President

• Kurt Okraku has retained his position as the Ghana Football Association president
• The GFA boss secured majority votes during the elections in Tamale
• Mr. Okraku will lead the association for the next four years

Kurt Edwin Simon Okraku has been re-elected as President of the Ghana Football Association.

The GFA boss retained his seat after securing 117 out of 119 votes cast, representing an overwhelming 97.1% support from delegates at the elective congress in Tamale.

Mr. Okraku, who stood unopposed, will lead the federation for another four years until 2027.

The former journalist has pledged to transform the country's football by making it one of the best on the continent and across the globe, per 3news.com.

During his first term in office, Mr. Okraku ensured the Black Stars returned to the World Cup by qualifying for the 2022 tournament in Qatar.

Other positions are currently being contested for, with the various Regional Football Association chairmen positions yet to be announced. These are being monitored by Sports Brief.

Meanwhile, the Executive Council will be made up of former Ghana coach, Kwesi Appiah; CAF General Coordinator, Fredrick Acheampong; Randy Abbey of Heart of Lions; and Kingsley Osei Bonsu.

Gifty Oware Mensah, the Chief Executive Officer of Berry Ladies, will represent women's football at the Executive Council of the Association.

Kurt Okraku confident ahead of elections

Okraku was beaming with confidence ahead of the federation's elections.

The FA boss came up against former Vice President of the Association, George Afriyie.

With a month left for voting, both parties had been engaged in rigorous campaigning, with Mr. Okraku taking his to the next level.

Honourable E.T. Mensah was the longest-serving sports minister in Ghana, assuming the role during the presidency of the late Jerry John Rawlings.
