Erling Haaland Breaks Last Season’s Golden Boot Tally of Mohamed Salah, Heung Min Son

  • Erling Haaland maintained his impressive streak in front of goal with another hat-trick
  • The Manchester City striker needed 54 minutes to put three past Wolves at the Etihad
  • His Premier League goals now stand at 25, more than all the top scorers in the last four seasons

Erling Haaland has officially surpassed last season's Golden Boot tally after hitting a hat-trick against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Haaland scored his 23rd, 24th and 25th goal of the campaign to beat the record set by Mohamed Salah and Heung-min Son of 23 goals last season.

He has also passed the tally of the last four seasons where the top scorers finished with no more than 24 goals.

Haaland's first goal came after he turned in a routine Kevin De Bruyne cross in the first half. He then scored from the penalty spot at the start of the second half after Ilkay Gundogan had been fouled by Ruben Neves.

His third for the day came after Riyad Marhez capitalized from a Jose Sa mistake before unselfishly laying it out to the Norwegian for a simple tap-in.

Fastest to fourth hat-trick

This is Haaland's fourth hat trick in the Premier League. He has now used 19 appearances to reach such a milestone. The previous record was held by Ruud Van Nistelrooy who required 65 games to achieve such a feat.

His next record will be to eclipse the 32 goals set by Mohamed Salah in the 2017/2018 season.

Inside Haaland's rise to the top

Haaland's rise to the top has been mercurial and quick. At barely 22 years of age, he is already dominating lists of the best strikers in the world with his ridiculous statistics in front of goal a clear testament of his vast potential.
