Takefusa Kubo: Real Sociedad Chief Gives Update on Liverpool’s Interest in Ex Real Madrid Star
- Liverpool are reportedly on the market for a new attacker and Takefusa Kubo is one of the names being considered.
- The former Real Madrid star has developed into one of La Liga's finest attackers since joining Real Sociedad in 2022.
- La Real Chairman, Jokin Aperribay, has provided an update on Liverpool links with the fleet-footed Japanese forward.
Takefusa Kubo's immediate future could be one to keep a close watch on as the summer transfer window gets into its business end.
The Japanese forward, who has lit up the stages in La Liga since venturing onto the scene as a Real Madrid loanee, has continued to court attention from several clubs across Spain.
However, Kubo's stellar performances with Real Sociedad, especially in the recently concluded UEFA Champions League (UCL), have seen him attract further transfer interest, including from clubs beyond Spain.
According to a recent report from Liverpool Echo, Premier League outlet Liverpool is considering a swoop for the Japanese star.

Nonetheless, amid the reports of the Merseyside club weighing up a signing for the attacker, Real Sociedad chairman Jokin Aperribay has addressed the rumours of the forward's potential sale.
Real Sociedad chief speaks on Kubo's transfer
Speaking in an interview as reported by Mundo Deportivo, Aperribay clarified that Real Sociedad had not received any inquiries about Kubo and expressed their desire to keep their prized asset.
“There is no issue. There are no negotiations with any club,” Aperribay stated.
“We’re in the market, so anything can happen, but Take is very happy here, and he’s going to stay. We value him greatly and hope he remains at La Real forever.”
Kubo is currently valued at an estimated €60 million by Real Sociedad. Should the Japanese forward be signed by another club, it could potentially trigger a sale of Mohamed Salah, whose future at Liverpool has been uncertain since the summer of 2023.
In addition to Kubo, Real Sociedad could also face the loss of Robin Le Normand and Mikel Merino, both of whom are attracting interest from Atlético Madrid.
Manchester United sets transfer record with Greenwood
Earlier, LEGIT.ng reported that Manchester United set a new transfer record with the sale of Mason Greenwood to Olympique Marseille.
The versatile forward was sold for a fee in the region of €29 million, which eclipses the record for the biggest transfer in the post-Alex Ferguson era.
