The latest to weigh in is Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold. In a recent interview, the 25-year-old revealed his perspective on who he considers the greatest player of all time.

Trent speaks on the best player ever

In a recent interview with The Mirror, the England defender was asked who he considers the best player he has ever seen. The Liverpool star unequivocally named Messi as the greatest player of all time.

“It has to be Messi for me,” Alexander-Arnold said. “He’s the best player I’ve ever played against and the best player to have ever played the game. I can’t even imagine anyone being better than what I’ve witnessed. There’s no way anyone can surpass him.”

He continued, “Playing against Lionel Messi is a unique experience. There’s an unparalleled sense of alertness whenever he’s near the ball. It’s rare for a player to instil such a feeling in opponents, and for that reason, I have to say he’s the best.”
Alexander-Arnold further explained, “In so many aspects of the game, Messi is probably the best. At any given moment, he can almost do whatever he wants on the pitch, which is why I consider him the greatest.”

The Liverpool vice-captain’s endorsement of Messi adds to a growing list of football legends, including Paolo Maldini, who have also chosen Messi over Ronaldo in recent interview as captured by Barca Universal.
