Manchester United include a surprise clause in Greenwood's contract

According to a report from The Telegraph, Manchester United have included a buy-back option in Mason Greenwood's contract, which could be activated in the future.

While such clauses are fairly routine for academy graduates or young talent, this one may be viewed as questionable given Greenwood's recent history. However, the report notes that there is 'no expectation or intention' for Greenwood to return, and the likelihood of this happening is considered very low.

The report also details that Manchester United have inserted a sell-on clause, which could amount to as much as 50% of any future transfer fee for Greenwood.

Since being cleared of assault allegations, Greenwood has continued his football career away from Old Trafford.

During the 2023/24 season, he played for La Liga club, Getafe, where he recorded an impressive 16 goal involvements in 36 appearances, according to data from Fotmob.
