Kylian Mbappe is poised to herald the Santiago Bernabeu in the coming weeks after completing a transfer move to Real Madrid.
The mercurial forward, who dominated the French Ligue 1 for the better part of the last decade, joined the Spanish football powerhouse on a free transfer after opting against extending his contract with Paris Saint-Germain.
According to an official statement from Real Madrid, the 25-year-old will be presented to fans of the club on Tuesday, July 16.
However, ahead of this highly anticipated event, Real Madrid defender, Daniel Carvajal, has issued a subtle warning to the French forward.
Carvajal issues subtle warning to Mbappe
In an interview as reported by Madrid Universal ahead of the UEFA Euro 2024 final, the veteran full-back highlighted the challenges of adapting to Real Madrid and the high expectations of the La Liga powerhouse.
"Mbappe? The bar is very high. He has to earn the position," Carvajal stated.
Despite the challenges, the 32-year-old expressed optimism, emphasising that the quality of the marquee forward will make Real Madrid stronger and more competitive.
“We all know the level of Kylian Mbappe, and Real Madrid always tries to sign the best. I think there is no doubt that he will help us a lot. Let's hope he helps us continue making history."
Since bursting onto the scene with Monaco in 2015, Mbappe has dominated the football scene, recording over 400 goal involvements, according to data from Fotmob.
Mbappe will team up with the likes of Vinicius Jr, Rodrygo de Goes, and Jude Bellingham at Real Madrid from the start of the 2024/25 season.
Why Mbappe won't wear No.10 at Real Madrid
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Mbappe will not wear the number 10 jersey for Real Madrid this coming season.
The long-awaited transfer was confirmed on Monday, June 3, just days after the 25-year-old forward announced he would leave French champions Paris Saint-Germain.
Real Madrid confirmed Fede Valverde as the new number eight, succeeding Toni Kroos. Mbappe will wear number nine, as the Frenchman never requested the number 10 out of respect for Luka Modric.
