Chelsea have reportedly joined the race to sign Palmeiras midfielder Gabriel Menino who has been dubbed as Brazilian Yaya Toure.
Palmeiras are thought to be keen to cash in on the youngster to stay afloat financially following a cash crisis occasioned by the global outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.
And Mail Online citing Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo the Blues are tracking the box-to-box midfielder ahead of the summer transfer window.
It is understood Menino has a huge £51million release clause attached to his contract, but Palmeiras are ready to take a £38m hit and let him leave for just £13m due to the pandemic.
The 20-year-old has played an important role in the Brazilian outfit, making more than 50 appearances across competitions last season - between August 2020 and February 2021.
However, his most remarkable contribution was when he scored one of his side's two goals against Gremio in the Copa do Brasil final as Palmeiras won the title for the fourth time.
His unquestionable work rate notwithstanding, it is his versatility that has seen him court interest from a number of top clubs.
It is understood Menino is able to play at right-back, earning comparisons with former Man City and Barcelona star, Yaya Toure.
Chelsea are sure to face competition from a number of clubs in their pursuit to sign the Brazilian, with rivals Tottenham Hotspur, Juventus and Atletico Madrid said to be monitoring him.
Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Super Eagles defender Kenneth Omeruo disclosed that Chelsea's ability to buy top players in the world made it difficult for him to break into the first team at Stamford Bridge.
No doubt about the fact that Chelsea are among the best teams in the Premier League considering their achievements most especially since when Roman Abramovich bought the Blues.
Kenneth Omeruo joined the Stamford Bridge landlords during the 2012 transfer window after his impressive performances at Standard Liege which paved ways for to London.
