Despite landing a number of signings during his two-year spell as manager at Old Trafford, Solskjaer is understood to be keen to further bolster his squad ahead of the next transfer window.

Metro UK reports Solskjaer wants at least four new signings, including a centre-back and a centre forward depending on Edinson Cavani's future.

However, that is expected to come at a cost - especially at a time the Norwegian reportedly has just £80m to spend on new signings.

It is believed he is now looking to cash in on his deadwood players as he seeks to boost his kitty to around £140m.

Jesse Lingard is thought to be among a number of players earmarked for sale, with United contending the Englishman can fetch £20m.

Lingard has been in fine shape for West Ham since his January loan move to the London Stadium and will undoubtedly attract some suitors in the summer including the Hammers.

United had earlier turned down a £14m offer from West Ham for the midfielder, holding out for their £20m asking price.

Diogo Dalot, who is currently on loan with AC Milan is the other player who could be shipped out after enjoying a bright start to life at San Diego.

Joining the duo on the list of players on the chopping board are Phil Jones, Sergio Romero and Juan Mata, with the latter having just weeks left on his current deal.

Jones is yet to play a single minute for United this season, with his inability to stay fit believed to be among the factors contributing to the club's desire to let him go.

The Red Devils are expected to activate a 12-month extension clause in Mata's deal, in a move that could see the side fetch something for the Spaniard.

Romero, on the other hand, is expected to leave on a free transfer once his deal at Old Trafford expires.

His exit will see United cut a significant portion of their wage bill and possibly help raise the £60m Solskjaer needs to boost his budget to around £140m.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Man United have reclaimed their place in second on the Premier League standings after securing a slim 1-0 win over a stubborn West Ham side on Sunday night, March 14, at Old Trafford.
