Top Atletico Madrid star reveals Nigeria's greatest football stars ever

Super Falcons' forward Rasheedat Ajibade has named former Nigerian international Perpetua Nkwocha as the greatest female player the country ever produced, while admitting that 'Asisat Oshoala has been impressive'.
The 21-year-old Ajibade joined Spanish Primera División club Atlético Madrid women on January 1 this year after signing a two-year contract.
In a chat with Legit.ng on Twitter, the former FC Robo queen stated that Perpetua Nkwocha was outstanding during her prime, but admitted she had no opportunity to see her play.
The 45-year-old Nkwocha is the current coach of Clemensnäs IF in Sweden, a country where she also featured as a player for Sunnanå SK.
She had a remarkable career for the Nigeria women’s team between 1999 and 2015 where she made 99 appearances and scored 80 goals.
Nkwocha was voted African Women's Footballer of the Year four times, having bagged the prestigious award in 2004, 2005, 2010 and 2011.
Asked who the greatest Nigerian female footballer is, Ajibade said:
“Hmm… Perpetua Nkwocha was outstanding in her prime, but I did not have the opportunity to see more of her on the field then.
“But this generation Asisat Oshoala has been impressive.”
Oshoala currently top-strikes for top Spanish football team Barcelona Femeni where she signed a permanent contract in 2019 after successfully completing her loan spell at the club from Chinese outfit Dalian Quanjian.
She has so far scored 33 goals for the club in just 32 appearances, also helping the Catalans to winning the league last season.
Oshoala has won the prestigious African Women's Footballer of the Year four times as well, winning it in 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2019.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Super Falcons star Rasheedat Ajibade opened her goal account with Atletico Madrid women in their 4-1 win over Valencia on Valentine's Day.
She started the game from the bench and was introduced into the game in the 75th minute after coming on for Ajara Nchout.
And just seven minutes after her introduction, she grabbed his debut goal in the 82nd minute after six appearances for Dani Gonzalez's ladies.
Atletico are now fourth on the table with 38 points after 20 league appearances so far this campaign.
