Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson Moraes has been given the nod by his coach at Manchester City Pep Guardiola who claimed that the 27-year-old could be the Citizens' new penalty taker.
Despite being impressive against Liverpool on Sunday night, February 7, Gundogan missed a penalty in the early minutes for Manchester City as he failed to beat Alisson.
So far this season, the likes of Raheem Sterling and Kevin De Bruyne have also missed penalties for Manchester City in the Premier League and other competitions.
According to the report on UK Sun citing BBC, Pep Guardiola stated that he is ready to give the Brazilian star the chance to be taking penalties.
Manchester City superstar spotted dragging his teammate by the neck during crucial victory over Liverpool at Anfield
"It's a problem that we have. In important moments, we cannot miss it, and it doesn't matter the taker. Again, I'm going to think about Ederson, he might be the taker next time."
Meanwhile, Manchester City are still topping the Premier League table and they have established five-points lead with Manchester United occupying second position on the log.
Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Manchester City star Ruben Dias sparked up reactions among the club fans after pulling Alexander Zinchenko by his neck in a bid to form a wall during their 4-1 triumph over Liverpool.
The 23-year-old centre-back while trying to arrange his teammates to defend the Reds' free-kick at the edge of his side's 18-yard box felt his colleague was not being urgent enough.
Pep Guardiola's men built a five-man wall with Zinchenko lying on the ground behind it but Dias decided to position the Ukrainian himself with a surprisingly brutal yank of the neck.
Zinchenko went along with his teammate as he did not say a word back to him, who already faced up to the free-kick with the score at 0-0.
Two super goals from Ilkay Gundogan and one each from Raheem Sterling and Phil Foden ensured the Reds suffered their third consecutive defeat at Anfield over the weekend.
Although Mohamed Salah got on the scores sheet from the penalty spot, his goal was however not enough to earn then at least a point in the end.
