It has been claimed that Premier League giants Manchester United were banned from signing Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez for free when he was about to leave Spanish side Barcelona.
The former Liverpool striker was the first player to be shipped out of Barcelona when new coach Ronald Koeman was appointed as replacement for Setien.
Setien was fired due to Barcelona's disappointing performance last season as they failed to win any title and also suffered an embarrassing defeat in the Champions League against Bayern Munich.
According to the report on UK Sun, Manchester United were among the clubs banned by Barcelona to sign Luis Suarez before he eventually joined Atletico Madrid.
Luis Suarez played for Liverpool in the Premier League for five years which made Barcelona chiefs not to sell him to the Reds' rival Manchester United.
The report added that even Real Madrid, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain were among the clubs banned from signing Suarez.
Since the departure of Luis Suarez at Barcelona, the Catalans have been struggling in front of goals and they are currently occupying third position on the League table.
Suarez on the other hand has been doing great with his teammates at Atletico Madrid as they are currently topping the League table with 44 points after 17 games played.
Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Argentina international Facundo Medina who currently plays for Lens emerged as the main transfer target for Premier League giants Manchester United.
Medina who plays as either a centre-back or left-back joined the recently promoted Lens last summer from Argentine side CA Talleres and has been impressive for the club.
Manchester United manager Ole Solskjaer is planning to bolster his defence so as to help the Red Devils fight for the Premier League title this season.
Although Medina recently made a return from injury and has been training hard for him to get back to the side's first team.
According to the report, Manchester United chiefs are very serious in their approach to land Facundo Medina at Old Trafford and would do everything possible to make sure they get his signature.
