Odion Ighalo joined Manchester United in the January 2020 transfer deadline day on loan from Chinese outfit Shanghai Shenhua and the deal-extension is set to lapse.

The Nigerian forward has just managed to feature for the Red Devils four times this season despite starting on a high, scoring five goals in his first six games in the previous campaign.

Ighalo’s contract expires on January 31 and reports say clubs in Saudi Arabia and Qatar are interested in signing him.

According to Sky Sports, two clubs in the English Premier League are also interested in the former Watford man as they have made tentative enquiries.

The 31-year-old recently recalled when he was minutes away from sealing Man United move on deadline day in January 2020.

Ighalo earned a dream move to his boyhood club and became the first man from his country to play for the Red Devils.

But the build-up to the deal was something the former Watford forward will never forget in his life as he was among the five strikers shortlisted to complete the move to Old Trafford.

The 31-year-old claims his agent had contacted him that United were interested in his services and he was excited since he got the news.

And on deadline day, Ighalo accepted a pay cut and a deal was finally put over the line to the delight of the ex-Granada striker.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that the contract of Nigerian star Ogenyi Onazi has been terminated at Danish club SønderjyskE, with six months left on it.

Onazi who joined the club in October 2020 has left the club via mutual agreement as the 28-year-old completed a one-year-signing late last year with an option to extend the deal for further two years.

It was gathered that the player agreed to part ways with the club having struggled to break into the first team as he made just two Danish top-flight appearances.
