Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl was on Monday, December 4, overwhelmed with emotion after his side dealt Liverpool a huge blow with a narrow 1-0 win at Saint Marys’.
Moments after the final whistle, Ralph Hasenhuttl went on his knees in tears at winning against someone he considers a role model; Jurgen Klopp.
A clever chip from Danny Ings as early as the second minute of the game proved to be the decisive moment as some heroic Southampton defending coupled with lackluster performances from the Reds at times ensured all three points went to the hosts.

Jurgen Klopp responds to critics, blasts referee for ignoring calls for a penalty during Liverpool’s 1-0 loss to Southampton
The Southampton boss has been likened to Klopp in many ways, one of them being his eccentric style of playing and sometimes his uncanny resemblance to the Liverpool boss in his way of dressing.
On Monday, both managers wore hats and jackets and it was somewhat difficult to tell them apart.
Speaking on his actions after the game, a clearly embarrassed Hasenhuttl blamed down the incident as he claimed it was the cold wind which made his eyes look like he was crying but we’re not sure anyone will believe him.
He told BBC Sport quoted by Talk Sport:
“There were tears in my eyes – because of the wind!
“When you see our guys fighting with everything they have it makes me really proud. You need to have the perfect game against Liverpool and I think we did that."
The win against Liverpool was significant because it blew the title race wider open, and it also meant Southampton were more than just a team in form.
As it stands, Southampton are sixth on the log with 29 points, only six off the top and three away from third-placed Leicester.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that a wonderful goal from Danny Ings against his former club was all Southampton needed to defeat hard-fighting reigning Premier League champions Liverpool 1-0.
The goal came as early as the 2nd minute after Ward-Prowse caught the Reds out via a free-kick and with a superb lofted finish from Ings to put Southampton in the ascendancy.
Jurgen Klopp's men came close to restoring the parity in the 12th minute as Jordan Henderson fired over, with both teams under a considerable amount of pressure.
