Ahmed Musa: Police arrest Yakubu for impersonating Nigerian footballer to defraud people

Gambo Yakubu has been arrested by the Kano Police Command after defrauding people of about N700,000 while impersonating Super Eagles captain.
The 30-year-old was said to have already duped about 15 people under the guise of helping them secure contracts with football clubs abroad.
Yakubu was said to have worked with the former Leicester City striker at his Sports Complex in the northern part of the country.

He was said to have been caught with possession of forged documents bearing Musa's name which he used to swindle his victims.
According to Premier Times, the accused reportedly confessed:
”To have defrauded more than 15 persons of N700,000 and spent the money on his girlfriends at hotels in Sabon Gari area of Kano."
In his statement to the police, Yakubu also revealed that he sold forms at the rate of N5,000 each to those youngsters who are desperate to play football abroad. He added:
”Youths who want to play football abroad.”
DSP Abdullahi Haruna confirmed that Yakubu once worked with the Super Eagles winger but their work relationship didn't last as reported by BBC.
He was working with Ahmed Musa sports centre before he was sacked and he went ahead fo start his illegal business with forged documentation.
Legit.ng earlier reported that Nigerian star Ahmed Musa could be on his way back to the Premier League as Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing the winger.
The 28-year-old is currently without a club after parting ways with Saudi Arabia outfit Al Nassr on mutual consent.
Sources close to the Super Eagles captain can confirm that the Magpies and a few other top European clubs are chasing for his signature.
