Reigning Premier League champions Liverpool moved to the top of the English topflight table on Wednesday night, December 16, after beating Tottenham 2-1 at Anfield.
Jose Mourinho and his wards would have themselves to blame for losing this encounter as they allowed Liverpool to come back to score the winner at the death.
Tottenham started the encounter on an impressive note with Moussa Sissoko getting the chance to score the first goal in the 3rd minute after getting a brilliant pass from Serge Aurier.
Mohamed Salah scored the first goal for Liverpool in the 26th minute in which goalkeeper Hugo Lloris failed to save the deflected shot.
But Heung-Min Son restored parity for Tottenham in the 33rd minute with a superb goal which beat Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker.
Liverpool tried all they could to get another goal before the end of the first half, but Spurs defenders were superb to prevent the Reds from scoring.
Spurs fans thought the encounter would end in a draw before Brazilian star Roberto Firmino scored the winner for Liverpool at the death.
Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp reportedly found a replacement for Barcelona target Georginio Wijnaldum ahead of the January transfer window.
The Dutch midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to Camp Nou since the arrival of Ronald Koeman in the summer.
Though the financial crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic forced the Catalans to hold off on their quest to sign the 30-year-old, the manager has now stepped up his bid for the Reds star.
Wijnaldum will be free to speak with the Spanish League outfit from next month with his current deal with the Anfield outfit set to expire at the end of this season.
Klopp has revealed earlier this campaign that he is not planning to let his key player leave any time soon, but his refusal to pen an extension might mean he is in his last season at the club.
Meanwhile, 23-year-old Sanches broke into the limelight during his time at Portuguese club Benfica won the prestigious Golden Boy award the following year.
