African football fraternities have been thrown into serious mourning on Sunday, December 13, following the shocking death of Mamelodi Sundowns defender Motjeka Madisha.
Motjeka Madisha was reported to have died in a terrible car accident which occurred in Johannesburg on Sunday morning, December 13.
Madisha had been called up to the South Africa senior men's squad 11 times since his debut in March 2018 and has one international goal to his name.
He had played 123 times for Sundowns scoring six goals and providing one assist in that time.
Tributes have been pouring from football fans in Africa and around the world on the death of the South African superstar who scored three goals for Sundowns in his career.
Molefi Ntseki who is the handler of the South African national team confirmed that Madisha's death came as a big blow for football on the continent.
"It is so devastating for such an up-and-coming player to lose his life this way.
"They don’t come more professional than the late Madisha. He was ever smiling, humble and was the first to arrive and leave the training ground, hence his rising star status.''
Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how former Super Eagles star and coach Sunday Oliseh stated emphatically that he was shocked when he heard about the death of Argentine football legend Diego Maradona.
Diego Maradona was no doubt a great footballer who was a joy to watch for all fans during his active playing time for clubs and country.
His controversial goal 34 years ago helped Argentina to win the FIFA World Cup beating England in the final of the championship.
And since then, Argentina have been struggling to win the World Cup again with the likes of Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero not being able to win the title.
Diego Maradona's last professional international game was against the Super Eagles of Nigeria at the 1994 World Cup in the USA in which Argentina won 2-1.
