Pep Guardiola has confirmed Sergio Aguero will not be in the starting line up when Man City take on rivals United during the Manchester derby on Saturday, December 12.
Aguero missed the start of the season with a knee injury before he suffered a further setback after he picked a hamstring injury shortly after he made a comeback.
However, the Argentine appears to have shook off his injury problems after he featured in City's 3-0 win over Marseille in their last Champions League group fixture.
The star forward went on to find the back of the net just 10 minutes after he came on as a substitute in the 67th minute to steer Man City to a comfortable win.
Ferran Torres had earlier scored the opener for the Citizens, with Aguero doubling the advantage in the 77th minute.
Alvaro Gonzalez directed the ball into his own net at the death to help City bag all the three points at Etihad.
Despite his incisiveness upfront on his return, Pep has revealed Aguero will not form part of his starting team in the Manchester derby.
"His instinct to score will always be there. He's had three or four training sessions and the reaction was good," Guardiola told Sky Sport.
"No," the Spaniard emphatically said when asked if the 32-year-old could start the derby.
United will be keen to put their Champions League woes behind them when they take on City at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils suffered a 3-2 defeat at RB Leipzig in their last group UCL clash to crash out of the European competition.
A win over their city rivals will momentarily fire them to third on the standings.
Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Ole Solskjaer was reportedly blamed by some Manchester United players following their exit in the Champions League in which they lost against Leipzig.
The Premier League side have been favored to secure their passage to the knockout stages of the Champions League, but they suffered an embarrassing defeat in their last group game.
Defeat against Leipzig means that Manchester United will now continue their campaign in Europe this term in the second tier which is the Europa League.
