Arsenal appear to have beat Man United to the signing of Lille centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes.

Magalhaes emerged as a major summer transfer target for a number of European clubs including Napoli after establishing himself as a formidable defender at Lille.

Daily Mail now reports Arsenal have won the race to land the Brazilian defender ahead of the 2020/21 season.

Magalhaes formed an important part of Lille's squad last summer, featuring in 23 domestic matches for the Ligue 1 side to help them to a fourth-place finish before the French league was cancelled over the coronavirus pandemic.
