David Silva: Manchester City star bids farewell to Etihad after 10 years

David Silva will be playing his final game for Manchester City in the Premier League when the Citizens take on Norwich on Sunday, July 26.
Nicknamed ‘Merlin’, the club’s icon who arrived in 2010 has been described as the club’s greatest-ever player by team-mate Pablo Zabaleta as the curtain starts to come down on his glittering Etihad career.
The 34-year-old could also still win the UEFA Champions League with the club in August, but in any case he will smile home with his massive 11 major trophies including four titles.
Silva will be leaving the Etihad with his head high full of lifetime memories as fans will barely hold their emotions.
Italian striker Mario Balotelli referred to Silva as “the slow Messi”, while his current partner Sergio Aguero, described him as a “beacon that will light the club forever”.

He joined Manchester City a decade ago for a whopping £25million from Spanish club Valencia and has gone on to create history, leaving long lasting memories in England.
For a man who already had a World Cup and a European Championship medal, it looked like a bold decision.
He recalls how it all started when he arrived at the club and now he could not imagine what he has achieved with the team.
Silva said in a recent interview ahead of his exit: “They had told us we had a project and it was to win trophies — and then in my first year we won the FA Cup. The rest is history."

The Blues manager was spotted on camera using a foul language at his counterpart in an incident involving players from either side.
Matteo Kovacic tackled Sadio Mane as referee Andre Marriner blew the whistle for a free-kick as Lampard and Klopp clashed on the sidelines.
