Odion Ighalo seem to have started life on a high at Old Trafford as the former Nigerian international bagged a brace in Manchester United’s 3-0 win over derby County in the FA Cup.
The former Watford of England talisman was on song in the 41st minute and the 70th to help his side cruise to the quarterfinal of the competition, with Luke Shaw opening the scoring earlier.
United manager Ole Gunnar Solksjaer had been heavily criticized on his decision to bring in Ighalo from Shanghai Shenhua of China, but the player has proven his critics wrong scoring three goals across his six appearances for the club.
“I am happy. I want to congratulate the team for a hard fought game," Ighalo told BT Sport after the win over County.
"As long as my team-mates believe in me, the boss believes in me and the fans believe in me, I just have to keep going. I don't care what anyone says."
"I am happy to be around this game team, great lads and great manager, I am happy and we are working hard," Ighalo told BBC Sport.
"We know we need to win the game to go through to do important things this season and end the season well. The start was not the best we can do but after 20-25 minutes we got into the game."
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Odion Ighalo's performance in that game did not go unnoticed as he was given the honour to the present the Man of the Match Award to Luke Shaw, cited on Daily Star and Twitter.
The 30-year-old hilariously snubbed a handshake from Shaw as the defender was handed the man of the match award. Man United made it through into the quarter finals of the oldest Cup competition in football's history when they defeated the Rams by 3-0.

Manchester United handler applauded the 30-year-old for his brilliant show on Thursday night.
Ighalo is now gradually convincing Manchester United chiefs and fans that he is a worthy addition to the Red Devils' fold after netting again in his second start for the Old Trafford giants.
The former Watford man started for Manchester United against Club Brugge in the Europa League where he netted his first ever goal for the Red Devils.
