Odion Ighalo: Chelsea legend Hasselbaink slams Ighalo's move to Man United
- Odion Ighalo has been criticized as a wrong choice for Man United by Chelsea legend Hasselbaink
- The Nigerian striker has also been scrutinized by Gary Neville and ex-Chelsea star Eidur Gudjohson
- Ighalo signed a six month deal to help put the Red Devils' league campaign back of on track
Odion Ighalo's move Man United has been tagged as a bad decision made by the Old Trafford outfit, by Chelsea legend Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.
Several pundits including Gary Neville and Eidur Gudjohnson are also against the former Watford striker's move to Theatre of Dreams from Shanghai Shenhua.
With 10 goals from 19 appearances this season, Ighalo has been hired to fill in the void for injured Marcus Rashford.
But Hasselbaink who scored 87 goals in his four-year spell with Chelsea believes United should have gone for better options.
“They knew that they needed a new striker for a long time.
“I don’t know how much money that they have but it is Man United," he told Sky Sports.
The Mexican has been a scoring sensation since he joined the Molineux side last season, with 37 goals in 81 appearances.
The Dutchman suggested Wolves' Raul Jimenez who has been in good scoring form and Danny Ings' Southampton who just can not stop scoring.
Hasselbaink went on to criticize the club’s move for Ighalo.
"He must be the luckiest man,” Hasselbaink said.
“Going to China, being away from Europe nobody seeing him for two and a half years since he was at Watford and then getting a loan move at United.
"It says how far behind United are from Liverpool, Manchester City and even Chelsea. They have got a big job ahead."
