The move came only days after the conclusion of the 2020/21 Premier League season where Fofana enjoyed a stellar campaign with the Foxes.

The youngster capped off his outstanding debut with Leicester by helping the club win their first-ever FA Cup title earlier in May.

His eye-catching performances have reportedly seen him emerge as a summer transfer target for Man United, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer desperate to add a new centre-back within his ranks.

However, it was Arsenal fans who started to get a bit excited with the prospect of landing the talented defender after photos of him posing in the Gunners' kit from last season surfaced online.

But in a move aimed at calming down Leicester supporters, Fofana was quick to play down any significance of the photos.

The Frenchman took to social media to explain that he was tricked into wearing the shirt by "former friends" while he was holidaying in Dubai. He said:

"OK mates. I have been tricked by some former friends wearing an Arsenal jersey. I have been photographed in, what I thought, was my private sphere. I had obviously no thinking that what was a friendly game and joke will end up on social networks."

The 20-year-old added he had "no problem" with Arsenal, but it is Leicester who are in his heart. He added:

"I feel sorry for our fans and angry against the guys that have seized the opportunity to make this bad buzz. Sorry for all Arsenal friends, I have strictly no problem with the red but only the blue is in my heart."
