Premier League clubs Chelsea and Leicester City have been fined the sum of £22,500 each following their brawl in the penultimate game of the Premier League season, Mirror reports.

The Blues won the tie 2-1 to avenge their FA Cup final match defeat to the Foxes, but the game was marred by violence involving players of both club.

The incident followed Ricardo Pereira’s challenge on Ben Chilwell as tempers flared between both teams as players and coaching staff clashed on the touchline.

But Chelsea could further face points deduction that puts their Champions League appearance hanging on a balance as they were earlier warned.

The FA said in a statement:

"Both clubs admitted they failed to ensure their players and club officials conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and refrained from provocative behaviour during the 93rd minute of the fixture."

It's the seventh time in seven years Chelsea have been in trouble for the indiscipline of their players.

They were warned in July 2016 that they could face a points deduction after appealing against a £375,000 fine against them for their part in a mass bust-up during a game with Tottenham two months earlier.

Since then, they have been charged twice more with failing to control their players, but escaped with fines and warnings about their future conduct.

Meanwhile, following their Champions League feat, Belgium national football team manager and former Chelsea coach, Roberto Martinez has blasted Antonio Rudiger for colliding with Kevin de Bruyne in the final.

Martinez unleashed his anger on the defender branding him as ‘reckless’, saying the player was lucky not to have received a red card during the encounter.

The Chelsea centre-back collided with the Belgium playmaker as the Blues won the tie 1-0 to emerge winners of the coveted Champions League for a second time.

The Manchester City player was substituted after fracturing a bone in his nose and eye socket, and he is an important part of the Belgium squad as they set for the European championships.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that N'Golo Kante has been praised by his teammate Cesar Azpilicueta as the best player in the world following his commanding performance for Chelsea in the Champions League final.

The French midfielder was handed the man-of-the-match award after the Blues stood firm to claim a 1-0 win over their Premier League rivals Man City.

In a post-match conference, Chelsea captain Azpilicueta spoke highly of his teammate as he was quoted by Sky Sports
