Football fans were up in arms on social media with varying reactions after it emerged Trent Alexander Arnold could be axed from the England squad for the Euros.
England boss Gareth Southgate completely snubbed the fullback in March, sparking speculation that perhaps he had lost all faith in him.
A provisional 33-man squad was announced last week, with Trent among those in the squad.
But with a final 26-man squad for Euro 2020 set to be announced on Tuesday, June 1, there are concerns that the Liverpool superstar will be among the high profile stars to miss out on The Three Lions squad
To be fair, Gareth Southgate has an array of talent to choose from including Reece James and Kyle Walker.
The boss believes having four players in the right-back position is too many, even for a 26-man squad.
This could spell doom for Trent, whose Liverpool side has not been in the best form this campaign.
It was not until late in the season that Liverpool enjoyed a late floury which saw them beat Leicester City to the top four to secure Champions League football.
Alexander-Arnold is largely regarded as one of the best right-backs in the world at the moment despite only being 22.
He has loads of experience at his age and is already considered a serial winner, having won the Club World Cup, Premier League and Champions League.
Bookies also suggest Manchester United superstar Mason Greenwood might not make the cut this time, while on-loan attacker Jesse Lingard’s recent form might see him nick a place in Southgate’s squad.
Bukayo Saka (Arsenal) and Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins could also face the axe as Southgate has many preferable options in the provisional 33-man squad.
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Gareth Southgate released a 33-man provisional squad for the Euro 2020 tournament and top names were dropped from the list.
Chelsea's duo of Fikayo Tomori and Tammy Abraham were nowhere on the list after their troubled spell at Stamford Bridge.
The team which would still have seven players exempted.
The final 26 will be named on June 1 as England will be preparing to take on Croatia in their first group game against Croatia.
Injury-doubts Harry Maguire, Jordan Henderson and Kalvin Phillips were also included in the 33-man provisional squad but seven players will still be dropped by Southgate.
