Reports were rife on Monday, May 24 that Bale was ready to call it quits on his lucrative football career aged only 31 to concentrate on, wait for it, golf.

Bale still has one year left on his contract at Real Madrid, although he made a summer move to his former club Tottenham on loan from Los Blancos.

Since his return to the Premier League, Bale has been in impressive form for the North London club, netting 11 goals in 20 appearances for Tottenham.

With the season having just been concluded, Spanish news outlet ABC came out to claim Bale was gearing up for retirement.

However, the Welshman’s agent Jonathan Barnett spoke to TalkSport where he dismissed the claims as ‘rubbish’.

When asked about the rumours, Barnett simply said, “Sorry, I don’t speak about rubbish reporting.”

Bale scored a brace against Leicester City on the final day of the season to give Spurs a crucial win which ensured they qualified for the Europa Conference League.

It was his remarks after the game, however, that left people talking as he claimed to speak about his next move “would cause chaos”.

“I know what I’m doing but it will just cause chaos if I say anything,” he said.

“I am not thinking about anything, all I’m concentrating on now is obviously finishing this season off strong.”

As far as finances are concerned, Bale is more than secure, especially after his spell at Real Madrid.

He has consistently fallen out with Real Madrid fans despite his heroics for Los Blancos in the past, and on numerous occasions in the past, Bale has shown that he was not necessarily happy at Real Madrid.

Nothing is conclusive as far as Bale’s future is concerned, and the 31-year old is adamant he will only make a decision after the Euros.
