Super Eagles forward Samuel Chukwueze has recorded his name in the history books of football after winning the Europa League title with Villarreal who defeated Manchester United in the final.

It was a tough game for the Premier League side who came back from a goal down and forced the Spanish giants to penalties before they lost against Unai Emery and his wards.

Nigerian star Samuel Chukwueze did not play in the final against Manchester United because of injury, but the 22-year-old was at the stands to cheer his teammates to victory.

According to the report on Brila FM, Samuel Chukwueze is now the sixth Nigerian to lift the title after Mikel Obi, Victor Moses, Nwankwo Kanu, Taribo West, and Chidi Odiah.

Here are the other five to win it

1. Mikel Obi won the Europa League with Premier League giants Chelsea.

2. Victor Moses also won the Europa League title with Chelsea.

3. Nwankwo Kanu lifted the Europa League title with Inter Milan.

4. Former Super Eagles defender Taribo West won the Europa League with Inter Milan.

5. Nigerian star Chidi Odiah also won the Europa League with CSKA Moscow.

Meanwhile, John Obi Mikel did not win only the Europa League title at Chelsea as the father of twins also lifted the Champions League in incredible career at Stamford Bridge.

Mikel Obi remains the most successful Nigerian player in history thanks to his stay at Chelsea where he also won the Premier League title.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Villarreal star Samuel Chukwueze couldn't contain his joy after his side defeated Manchester United on penalties to emerge Europa League champions this season.

The 22-year-old was not named in the squad for the La Liga side as he was considered not fit for the game of such magnitude.

Recalled that the Super Eagles forward suffered an injury setback in their semifinal first-leg win over Arsenal in Spain, however, he did not recover in time to feature in the second leg nor the final.

In spite of his absence, the Yellow Submarine conquered their Premier League counterpart and lifted the title at the end of the overstretched encounter.

After their triumph, the winger took to social media via Instagram live broadcast from his phone to shower encomium on the fans for their support before, and after the game.
