Chelsea goalkeeper Édouard Mendy is facing a race against time to be fit just in time for his side's Champions League final meeting with Man City.
The two Premier League teams are set to lock horns on Saturday, May 29, for the final of the European elite competition.
Chelsea and Man United legends name Blues star who should be blamed for FA Cup final loss to Leicester
Whereas City will be desperate to win the title for the first time in their history, the Blues will be looking to end their season on a high with the prestigious trophy.
However, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has been handed something to ponder over after Mendy picked an injury on the final day of the season.
Metro UK reports the Senegalese shot-stopper suffered a rib injury during his side's 2-1 defeat against Aston Villa, a result that saw them finish in the top four after Leicester lost 4-2 to Tottenham Hotspur.
Mendy had to be withdrawn at half-time of the clash, with reports suggesting he collided with the post as he attempted to make a save.
His place was subsequently taken up by Kepa Arrizabalaga who went on to concede Villa's second goal before Ben Chilwell scored a consolation.
Speaking on his side's goalkeeping situation, Tuchel admitted he is worried Mendy could be ruled out of the Champions League final.
Ex-Premier League referee gives stunning reason why VAR didn't cancel Leicester City's FA cup goal against Chelsea
"He fell on the frame [post] from the goal net when he landed and hurt his ribs," Tuchel said after Chelsea’s loss to Villa.
"We are worried. We don’t know if it’s an impact injury or it’s more serious. We have to wait for the scans later," he added.
The ex-Lille's potential absence in the City tie will pave way for Kepa to take charge between the sticks during the encounter.
